BRAZIL – In July 2016, according to IBA (Industria Brasileira de Árvores) monthly report, Brazilian domestic sales of wood panels reached 497,000 m3, which represented a drop of 9.5% compared to July 2015 (549,000 m3).
Domestic panel consumption in Brazil also experienced a drop of 9.5% in July 2016 (498,00 m3), compared to July 2015 (550,000 m3).
Consolidated domestic sales in Brazil, for the January – July 2016 period, reached 3,66 million m3, a decrease of 5.0% compared to the same period 2015 (3,85 million m3). Consolidated consumption of panels also decreased by 5.1%, in the first seven months of 2016 (3,66 million m3) as compared to the same period of 2015 (3,86 million m3).
Brazilian panel manufacturers were able to partially offset lower domestic sales and consumption in the first seven months of 2016 by maintaining a considerable growth of panel exports in the period and reaching 535,000 m3 (2015: 343,000 m3).
