ROMANIA – Ingka Investments, part of Ingka Group (owner of more than 370 Ikea stores and 100 planning studios in 31 countries around the globe), has acquired a 300MWp solar PV park in Romania with a total investment exceeding EUR 200 million.
Located in Dâmbovița county, northwest of Bucharest, the solar project will commence operations by the end of 2025, providing renewable energy for approximately 95,000 European households.
With nine existing wind farms in Romania, totaling 171 MW, Ingka Group is expanding its renewable energy efforts to further reduce its climate footprint.This aligns with Ikea’s commitment to becoming climate positive* by 2030.
As part of a EUR 6.5 billion initiative, Ingka Investments has invested over EUR 4 billion in wind and solar projects, contributing to Ikea’s sustainability goals.
Ingka Group, as the leading retailer in the Ikea franchisee system, plays a key role in achieving these 2030 objectives, currently owning 594 wind turbines, 29 solar parks in 19 countries, and over a million solar panels on Ikea stores and warehouses, collectively generating more than 5 TWh annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of over 1.25 million European households.
