BRAZIL – Brazil’s apparent board consumption in January 2016 was 462,000 m3, -19.1% compared with 571,000 m3 in January 2015. January was the tenth consecutive monthly drop in domestic board consumption in Brazil
According to IBA’s (Industria Brasilera de Arvores) latest report, Brazilian domestic board sales reached 462,000 m3 in January 2016 compared to 569,000 m3 in January 2015, representing an 18.8% drop.
In January 2016 Brazilian board exports were up 50 % reaching 54,000 m3 compared to 36,000 m3 in the same month 2015. The continued growth in exports in the last year has not been able to compensate for the strong decline in domestic sales and consumption.
