CHILE – In December 2018, circulated the last edition of the Lignum magazine, reputed specialized publication of the forestry industry with regional scope. This decision extends to both its printed publication and the digital version.

816LIGNUM In the last edition of Lignum in December of last year its editorial house Editec announced the decision through an editorial that alluded to the challenges faced by print media against new technologies and reading habits of the new generations.

“Since its inception, Lignum was building its own niche until it became legitimately part of the Chilean forest industry, the repository of its collective historical memory; recognized nationally and internationally and also source of reference for scholars, businessmen and the community in general and forestry in particular.

For Editec, the decision to close Lignum has not been easy, it hurts its journalistic vocation, its adhesion to the sector and the history covered. However, he believes that others, in other platforms and with the support of emblematic companies in the forestry sector, could project Lignum in a new cycle.” the editorial stresses.

And adds, “Thinking about the future does not nullify the past, which – in the case of Lignum – keeps a capital that is 30 years old, with its respective historical and journalistic value. The horizon is to transform and evolve according to what our readers expect.”
