ECUADOR – The value of Ecuador’s particleboard exports (PB/MDP) totaled USD 101.73 million in the first half of 2022 (6M-2022), an increase of 20.7 percent compared to the same period last year (6M-2021: USD 84.27 million).
This contrasts with the net weight exported, which fell 6.3 percent from 146.6 thousand tons in 6M-2021 to 137.3 thousand tons in 6M-2022.
The value of Ecuadorian PB/MDP exports in 2021 was USD 198.17 million (326.8 thousand tons), which was a new annual record.
The value of Novopan del Ecuador´s PB/MDP exports, the country’s main manufacturer, was USD 100.7 million in 6M-2022 compared to USD 83.21 million in the same period 2021, an increase of 21.0 percent.
Colombia was the main foreign market for EcuadorianPB/MDP. In 6M-2022, Ecuadorian particleboard worth USD 58.82 million was shipped to the Colombian market, a significant improvement of 36.6 percent compared to 6M-2021 (USD 43.07 million).
Peru was the second most important foreign market for the Ecuadorian PB/MDP in 6M-2022. With shipments of USD 33.9 million, an improvement of 5.8 percent compared to 6M-2021 (USD 32.13 million). The value of exports to Peru added to those to Colombia accounted for 91.2 percent of Ecuadorian total PB/MDP exports in 6M-2022 (6M-2021: 89.2 percent).
