COLOMBIA – Colombian modular board furniture exports from the main manufacturers reached USD 3,197,130 in the 1Q-2016, representing a 16.8% increase compared to 1Q-2015.
The main exporting companies were Moduart and RTA Design with increases in its exports, of 50.2% and 68.9% respectively against the same period 2015.
Moduart, with production plant in the port city of Barranquilla, lead with a 46.5% share of total exports of the period. Followed by RTA Design, located in Yumbo, a city of the department of Valle del Cauca, with 44.9% share of 1Q-2016.
Chile consolidated as the main export market with an impressive growth of 115.7% reaching USD 1,389,562 and a 43.5% share of exports and improvement of 20 percentage points (1Q-15: 23.5%).
Exports to Ecuador, that in the 1Q-2015 was the second most import market for Colombian modular furniture exports with USD 611,485 and a 22.3% share of total exports, suffered a dramatic drop of more than 85% to USD 89,861 in the 1Q-2016. This drop was mainly due to protectionist measures adopted by Ecuadorian authorities during the last year and overall economic slowdown in the country.
