CHILE – Chilean company Celulosa Arauco y Constitución S.A. (Arauco), the world’s second-largest wood panel manufacturer, has commissioned Dieffenbacher to supply an OSB plant to replace an existing MDF line at its Trupan site in Cholguán, Bío-Bío region. The plant is set to start production in mid-2026.
“We operate eight Dieffenbacher production lines, and they’re all running smoothly. We’re very satisfied with all our Dieffenbacher equipment,” says Tito Jara, Composite Panels Corporate Industrial Director at Arauco. “That’s why we chose Dieffenbacher for this project to convert our Trupan I MDF line into a modern OSB line,” he adds.
Diego Coelho de Oliveira, Area Sales Director at Dieffenbacher, explains that this is a special project as the new plant will be built around the existing 1988 10-opening press. “We thank our partners at INSERCO for their valuable support during the sales process with Arauco,” he adds.
Dieffenbacher’s scope includes everything from wood yard operations to raw board handling, including pneumatic systems and plant automation. “We’re especially pleased Arauco has included the MAIER Rotor Debarker, OSB Disc Screen, and Belt Dryer in the order,” says Coelho de Oliveira.
Arauco is committed to sustainability, and the inclusion of the Dieffenbacher Belt Dryer, which reduces thermal energy consumption and costs, aligns with this goal. “We were the first forestry company to certify carbon neutrality,” says Jara.
Arauco and Dieffenbacher have worked together on several modernization and new plant projects. “The success of this project in Cholguán depends on the strong relationship with our partners, and we’ve had a great one with DIEFFENBACHER,” concludes Jara.
