Colombian Particleboard Imports grew 39.5% in 2021

COLOMBIA- Colombian imports of particleboard (PB / MDP) reached USD 140.41 million in 2021 an increase of 39.5 per cent compared to 2020 (USD 100.67 million) and 38.7 per cent compared to 2019 (USD 101.26 million).

977COLOMBIA2 Madecentro, the largest distributor of supplies and services for the furniture and wood industry, was again the main importing company in 2021 with USD 93.81 million that represented an increase of 50.9 per cent compared to 2020 (USD 62.18 million) and 47.8 per cent compared to 2019 (USD 63.45 million).

Maderkit, one of the main furniture manufacturers in the country, was the second PB / MDP importer in 2021 with USD 13.28 million which represented an increase of 44.0 per cent compared to 2020 (USD 9.22 million).

Arauco Colombia was the third PB / MDP importing company in importance with USD 7.95 million in 2021, followed by Duratex, the largest board manufacturer in Colombia, with USD 7.75 million.

Ecuador was the leading supplier country of PB / MDP to the important colombian market and surpassed the USD 100 million mark for the first time with USD 108.74 million that represented an improvement of 48.5 per cent compared to 2020 (USD 73.23 per cent). Brazil surpassed Chile and was the second supplier country with USD 13.25 million in 2021. Followed by Chile (USD 12.30 million) and Spain (USD 4.27 million).
