Colombian modular furniture exports down 24.6%

COLOMBIA – Colombian modular furniture exports recorded a considerable decline in the January – October 2015 period, reaching USD 9,2 million, down 24.6%, compared to the same period last year (2014: USD 12.2 million).

Mueble modular colombiano 201503 In the export market breakdown, Chile and Peru maintained their positions as the two main markets for Colombian board furniture exports although with considerable drops. Colombian modular furniture exports to Chile and Peru were down 39.2% and 27.4% respectively in the first 10 months of 2015.  Shipments to Ecuador also decreased 26.2% reaching USD 1,1 million (2014: USD 1,4 million).

Exports to the north american markets – Mexico and the US – partially offset the drop to the traditionally main markets of Chile, Peru and Ecuador with an increase of exports to Mexico of 51.1% and to the US of 34.7%. Both Mexico and the US surpassed Ecuador and are now the third and fourth main destinations for Colombian modular furniture.
