COLOMBIA – Colombian imports of particleboard / MDP reached USD 63.45 million in the first nine months of 2017 (9M-2017) which represent an increase of 18.1% compared to the same period of 2016 (USD 53.71 million).
Novopan del Ecuador continues to consolidate its position as the main supplying company with USD 42.44 million in 9M-2017 compared to USD 38.73 million in 9M-2016 (+ 9.6%). Duratex from Brazil, up 255.9%, became the second supplier with USD 7.92 million in 9M-2017 (9M-2016: USD 2.22 million), ahead of Paneles Arauco from Chile which was the third largest supplier in 9M-2017 with USD 6.03 million (9M- 2016: USD 5.90 million).
Among the top PB/MDP importing companies in 9M-2017, Madecentro leads again with USD 38.42 million, followed by Duratex Colombia (formerly Tablemac) with USD 7.92 million, Arauco Colombia (USD 6.03 million), Masisa Colombia (USD 3.64 million) and furniture manufacturer Maderkit (USD 3.34 million).
The ranking of PB / MDP supplier countries in 9M-2017 is once again headed by Ecuador (USD 42.52 million), followed by Brazil (USD 9.82 million), that overtook Chile (USD 8.97 million) as the second supplier country in importance. Brazil was also the supplier country with the highest growth rate in the period (126.8%).
