PERU – The value of Peruvian imports of plastic edgebands amounted to USD 2.57 million in the first half of 2023 (6M-2023).

This represents a drop of 8.9% compared to 6M-2022 (USD 2.82 million).

China was by far the main supplier of plastic edgebands to the Peruvian market in 6M-2023 with shipments worth USD 2.19 million, although this was 17.7% lower compared to the same period of the previous year (6M-2022: USD 2.66 million).

The value of Chinese edgebanding imported into Peru accounted for 85.2% of total edgebands imported in 6M-2023. Brazil, the second largest supplier of plastic edgebanding to Peru in 6M-2023 with USD 166.6 thousand, representing 6.5% of total imports. They were followed by Chile with USD 121.8 thousand and a share of 4.7%.

Representaciones Martín was again the main importer of plastic Edgebands to the Peruvian market in 6M-2023, with purchases of USD 1.82 million, which were 8.7% below those made in the same period of the previous year (6M-2022: USD 1.99 million). Representaciones Martin’s imports in 6M-2023 accounted for 70.8% of the total (6M-2022: 70.6%). They were followed by Novopan Peru (5.9%), Modulo Ferrecentro (4.8%) and De Vicente Plasticos Peru (4.7%).
