Chilean wooden furniture imports down 6.5% in 9M-2016

CHILE –  Chilean wooden furniture imports reached USD 87,2 million in the January – September (9M) period 2016 compared to imports of USD 93,3 million in the same 9M period 2015 (- 6.5%).

puerto 201701 2 In the 9M period China was the main supplying country to the Chilean market with shipments of USD 30,8 million, a 35.3% share, down 4.2% compared to same period 2015 (USD 32,1 million).

Brazil was the second supplying country of wooden furniture to Chile with 18.1% of shipments worth USD 15,8 million that represented a 4.3% drop compared to 9M period 2015 (USD 16,5 million).

Malaysia (USD 9,1 million) was the third supplier in the 9M period 2016 and Denmark (USD 7,3 million) was the main European supplier of wooden furniture to the Chilean market followed by Italy (USD 3,2 million). Colombia was the second South American supplier to the Chilean market with USD 2,6 million compared to USD 2,5 million in the same period 2015 (+3.7%).
