CHILE – In the first three months of 2017 (1Q) Chilean plastic edgeband exports reached USD 571,554 compared to USD 1,119,247 in the same period 2016 that represented a considerable drop of 48.9%. The top brands of plastic edges produced in Chile are the international brands Rehau and Canplast (Surteco).

Colombia replaced Argentina as the main export market for chilean plastic edgebands as shipments to Argentina contracted 68.8% from USD 298,132 in 1Q-2016 to just USD 93,063 in the 1Q-2017.  Although Colombia became the main export market, its imports of Chilean plastic edgebands decrease of 22.5% as they reached USD 218,345 in the 1Q 2017 compared to USD 281,624 in the same period 2016.

Ecuador was the the third market for chilean plastic edges but also decreased from USD 135,329 in the 1Q-2016 to USD 71,141 in the 1Q- 2017 (-47.4%) Exports to Peru, the fourth market in importance, experienced the largest drop (87.8%) in the 1Q-2017.
