CHILE – The value of Chilean exports of particleboard/ MDP (PB/MDP) had an improvement of 9.5 percent in the first four months of 2022 by totaling USD 28.83 million, which compares to USD 26.33 million in the same period of 2021.

Total Chilean PB/MDP exports in 4M-2022 were led by Arauco and Masisa with overseas shipments of USD 20.93 million and USD 7.90 million respectively.

The improvement in Chilean PB/MDP exports in 4M-2022 highlights the strong improvement in shipments to the Central American market where exports to Costa Rica (USD 2.13 million) and Guatemala (USD 1.14 million) grew 161.8 percent and 5.4 percent, respectively.

Mexico (USD 10.13 million) and Peru (USD 9.39 million) remained the two main external markets for Chilean PB/MDP, with improvements of 7.9 percent and 8.7 percent, respectively.

Colombia, the third largest external market for Chilean PB/MDP, slightly reduced its purchases from Chile in 4M-2022. Chilean particleboard shipments to Colombia reached USD 3.70 million, a decrease of 15.6 percent compared to USD 4.38 million reached in 4M-2021.
