CHILE – The value of Chilean particleboard exports (PB/MDP) in the first ten months of 2023 (10M-2023) was USD 90.27 million which represented an increase of 15.5% compared to the same period last year (10M-2022: USD 78.18 million).
Arauco and Masisa collectively accounted for all Chilean PB/MDP exports in 10M-2023, with Arauco contributing shipments worth USD 69.02 million and Masisa USD 21.24 million. This represented an improvement of 27.8% for Arauco and a decrease of 12.2% for Masisa, compared to their respective figures of USD 53.99 million and USD 24.19 million in 10M-2022.
The performance of Chilean exports of PB/PMD in 10M-2023 showed notable growth in shipments to Ecuador (USD 7.43 million) and Guatemala (USD 6.85 million), with increases of 75.9% and 39.5%, respectively.
Exports to Mexico, the main foreign market for Chilean PB/MDP, also had a significant growth (19.1%), going from USD 27.74 million in 10M-2022 to USD 33.04 million in 10M-2023.
On the other hand, exports to Peru, the second largest foreign market, experienced a slight decrease of 2.6% in 10M-2023.
Shipments to Colombia, which ranks third in importance for Chilean exports of PB/MDP, showed a slight increase (1.6%) and amounted to USD 12.90 million.
