COLOMBIA – Colombian RTA furniture exports reached USD 4,673,859 in the first five months of 2016, representing a 5.2% decrease compared to same period 2015 (USD 4,932,146).

The main export market in the period was Chile, with USD 1,583,925, a 33.9% share of total Colombian exports and an increase of 34.9% compared to same period 2015 (USD 1,264,412). In the period Mexico surpassed Peru as the second export market in importance for Colombian modular furniture reaching USD 917,537 (2015: USD 668,675), compared to shipments to Peru for USD 703,081(2015: USD 1,150,042).

The fastest growing market for Colombia RTA furniture exports in the first five months of the year was the USA with USD 601,907 (2015: USD 370,157) and a 62.6% improvement compared to 2015. Exports to Ecuador had the largest drop in the period, 81.3%, mainly due to import restrictions imposed by local authorities.

Among the main exporting companies, RTA Design and Moduart were No. 1 and 2 in the period with exports of USD 1,884,248 and 1,774,436 respectively. The top two exporters were the only companies to improve export values compared to the same period 2015.
