BRAZIL – According to IBA’s (Industria Brasileira de Árvores) monthly report, in October 2016 Brazilian domestic sales of wood panels reached 518,000 m3, the same sale level reached in October 2015 (518,000 m3).
Domestic panel consumption also experienced stability in October 2016 with 519,000 m3 consumed, same as October 2015 (519,000 m3).
Consolidated domestic sales in Brazil, for the January – October 2016 period, reached 5.21 million m3, a decrease of 4.0% compared to the same period 2015 (5.43 million m3). Consolidated consumption of panels also decreased by 4.0%, in the first ten months of 2016 (5.22 million m3) as compared to the same period of 2015 (5.44 million m3).
Brazilian panel manufacturers were able to partially offset lower domestic sales and consumption in the first ten months of 2016 by maintaining an important 66.9% growth of panel exports in the period and reaching 831,000 m3 (2015: 498,000 m3).
