BRAZIL – The value of Brazilian wood panel exports (MDP/MDF/HB) grew 24.6% in the January-April 2017 period reaching USD 86 million (2016: USD 69 million). 

Latin America was the main regional market for Brazilian panel exports with USD 48 million in the first 4M-2017 (2016: USD 38 million), followed by North America with USD 20 million (2016: USD 16 million).

Regarding volume, Brazilian panel exports maintained a significant growth of 39.8% in the first 4M-2017, reaching 376,000 m3 (2016: 269,000 m3).

In April 2017 sales of wood panels in the Brazilian domestic market fell for the second consecutive month reaching 481,000 m3, representing a drop of 11.4% compared to 2016 (543,000).Consolidated domestic sales in the period January-April 2017 were 2.09 million m3 and remained relatively stable compared to the same period of 2016 (2.11 million m3).
