Brazilian furniture exports up 7.9% in 1Q/2017

BRAZIL – Brazilian furniture exports reached USD 141.0 million in the 1Q/2017, an increase of 7.9% compared to the 1Q/2016 (USD 130.7 million).

The United States maintained its position as Brazil’s main furniture export market with USD 36.5 million maintaining an important growth rate of almost 28%.

The United States was followed by the United Kingdom, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru and Chile. Paraguay was the fastest growing market, among the top ten destinations, for Brazilian furniture exports reaching USD 7.5 million in the 1Q/2017 compared to USD 4.2 million in the same period 2016, which represented an increase of 77.3%.

The Brazilian furniture trade balance had a deficit of USD 7.2 million in the 1Q/2017 with furniture imports of USD 148.2 million of which USD 51.2 million came from China the main foreign supplier to the Brazilian market.
