Brazilian Furniture Exports Up 7.1% in First Four Months 2017

BRAZIL – Brazilian furniture exports reached USD 192.6 million in the January – April 2017 period (4M-2017), representing a 7.1% increase over 4M-2016 (USD 179.8 million).

751BRASIL The United States maintained its position as the main furniture export market for Brazilian furniture with USD 48.8 million, representing a 25% growth compared the previous year (4M-2016: USD 39 million).

The top destinations after the USA were the United Kingdom, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru and Chile. Of the top 10 destinations for Brazilian furniture exports, Paraguay was the fastest growing market, reaching USD 10.4 million in 4M-2017 compared to USD 7 million in the same period 2016, achieving a 47.4% increase.

More good news was the slight surplus in Brazil’s furniture trade balance of a little more than USD 173 thousand in 4M-2017. This as furniture imports reached USD 192.5 million, of which USD 67 million came from China, the main furniture supplying country to the Brazilian market.
