Brazilian Furniture exports grow for first time since 2010

BRAZIL – Brazilian furniture exports reached USD 603.3 million compared to USD 601.6 million in 2015 (+0.3%) that represented the first growth in furniture exports for Brazil since 2010 (USD 789.3 million).

mercados 201702Brazilian Furniture imports totaled USD 595.5 million a drop of 18.9% compared to USD 734.5 million in 2015. The slight increase in exports and the important drop in imports allowed Brazil to have a positive furniture trade balance of USD 7.8 million for the first time since 2011 when exports were USD 141.5 million higher than imports.

In 2016 the United States were for the third straight year Brazil´s main furniture export market with shipments of USD 138.7 million followed by the UK with USD 80.9 million, Argentina with USD 67.5 million and Uruguay with shipments for USD 42.5 million. China was again the main furniture supplying country in 2016 with USD 175.1 million followed by the United States with USD 100.9 million and Austria with USD 37.7 million.
