BRAZIL – The year 2016 began with a sharp drop in exports of Brazilian furniture. Total exports in January fell 15.8% to settle at USD 32.0 million compared to USD 38.0 million in January 2015.
A significant impact to this result was the fall in exports to the important Argentine market, which experienced considerable drop (-30.1%).
The USA remained as the main destination country for Brazilian furniture exports in January 2016 with USD 6.7 million, but this figure represents a 12.4% drop compared to the same month of 2015 (USD 7.7 million).
Among the main export destination markets of Brazilian furniture only France (+ 92.7%) and Germany (+ 49.7%) showed growth, helping to mitigate the decline in total exports.
