BRAZIL – According to IBA’s (Industria Brasilera de Arvores) latest report, Brazilian board consumption in 2015 declined 12.1% reaching 6.4 million m3 (2014: 7.3 million m3).
For the year 2015, Brazilian domestic board sales reached 6.4 million m3, compared to 7.2 million m3 in 2014. Exports for the year were 641.000 m3, 52.3% higher than 2014 and imports were down 84%.
December was the ninth consecutive monthly drop in domestic board consumption in Brazil. According to IBA, Brazilian domestic board sales reached 429.000 m3 in December compared to 524.000m3 in December 2014 (-18.1%).
In December Brazilian board exports were up 156.7%, reaching 77.000 m3 and imports were down 80%, totaling 1.000 m3. Brazilian board consumption totaled 430.000 m3 in December 2015 compared to 529.000 m3 in December 2014 (-18.7%).
