BRAZIL – In February board apparent consumption in Brazil grew for the first time in 11 months as it reached 499,000 m3, up 4.4% compared with 478,000 m3 in February 2015.

According to IBA’s (Industria Brasilera de Arvores) latest report, Brazilian domestic board sales reached 499,000 m3 in February 2016 compared to 476,000 m3 in February 2015, representing a 4.8 % increase.

In February 2016 Brazilian board exports were up 94 %, reaching 70,000 m3 compared to 36,000 m3 in the same month 2015. Unfortunately the continued growth in exports in the last year has not been able to compensate the overall decline in domestic sales and consumption throughout.
