Brazil´s furniture trade balance continues to deteriorate

BRAZIL (Notifix).- Brazil´s furniture imports in the January – May period 2013 reached USD 336.9 million, while exports in the period totaled USD 275.4 million, resulting in a trade deficit of USD 61.6 million.

his deterioration of Brazil’s furniture trade balance can be explained by the stagnation of exports, while foreign manufacturers take advantage of the market opportunities Latin America`s largest economy has to offer. Figures show that in the period and compared to last year, furniture imports grew 22.1%, while exports decreased 1.2%. Furthermore, this deterioration of Brazil’s furniture trade balance contrasts with a 13.5% devaluation of the Real between January 31st and July 9.
