Bartira, Latam’s largest furniture manufacturer to be taken over by Grupo Pao de Azucar

BRAZIL – Via Varejo S.A, a unit of Grupo Pao de Azucar responsible for the furniture, appliances and online sales business, is citing an Extraordinary Shareholders’ Meeting to be held on October 31 to determine the exercise of the purchase option of 75% of equity shares of Bartira Moveis, currently held by its founders, the Klein family.

By performing this operation, Via Varejo S.A will complete full ownership of Bartira´s shares. The operation is calculated in BRR 200 million.

With a plant of more than 100,000 m2, Bartira produces bedrooms, kitchens, shelves and racks, among others, with an annual output of over 3 million articles, making it  Brazil?s and Latin America’s largest furniture manufacturer. Due to a previous agreement the entire production is marketed by Via Varejo S.Aand it’s retail chains Casas Bahia and Ponto Frio.
