SWITZERLAND – Founded in 1937, Willisau-based company Argolite AG has been a leading producer of laminate panels since 1953. With 80 employees, it is the sole Swiss manufacturer of HPL (High Pressure Laminates) meeting the EN438 quality standard.
The Swiss Krono Group, established in 1966 in Menznau, Switzerland, and a global leader in wood-based materials, sees the acquisition as a strategic move to enhance its position in the competitive market and reinforce its commitment to the Swiss market.
Swiss Krono Group’s CEO, Martin Brettenthaler, highlights the potential for growth in the Swiss interiors and contract business, as well as the strengthening of HPL expertise. Despite the acquisition, Argolite AG, its Willisau location, and jobs remain independent. Rolf Wermelinger, former Head of Marketing and Sales, now leads Argolite AG, supported by the previous owner Markus Höchli in an advisory role.
Swiss Krono Menznau site manager, Roger Braun, assures continuity, expressing confidence in Wermelinger’s leadership and emphasizing job security for Argolite AG employees. Markus Höchli, pleased with the partnership, believes that the values and spirit of Argolite will persist under the Swiss Krono Group, ensuring a smooth transition for the company’s future.
