SPAIN - International sales of the Spanish furniture sector have not stopped growing at a very good pace throughout 2021, showing a clear recovery month by month.

At the close of the year, the data confirm a 25.2% increase in international sales of Spanish furniture, exceeding the figure of EUR 2,613 million (2020: EUR 2086.7 million).

And all this despite the difficulties experienced in 2021 due to various issues, in addition to Covid-19, such as the sourcing of raw materials and the increase in their price, the high cost of freight, which is passed on to the final cost of the product, logistic problems...etc. Undoubtedly, the companies in the sector have made a tremendous effort to adapt to the new circumstances and achieve such a positive result in 2021.

France holds the absolute leadership with 30.5% of the total Spanish furniture exported, and an incredible growth of 22% in 2021. It is worth noting the excessive degree of concentration in the French market, which, on the other hand, is growing steadily. The next 4 countries in the ranking (Portugal, the United States, Germany and Italy) account for practically the same percentage of the total as France.

The United States, with a significant increase of 73.2%, has come to position itself in third place in the ranking of destinations for Spanish furniture worldwide at the end of 2021.

Portugal, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom are other major destinations for Spanish furniture. The top 10 ranking also includes Morocco, the Netherlands, Poland and Belgium, all of them with substantial increases and totaling 77% of Spanish furniture exports.
