COLOMBIA - The leading Colombian furniture manufacturer, RTA Muebles, completed the expansion of its production facility located in Yumbo, Valle del Cauca.

The investment of COP 4,100 million (approximately USD 1.2 million) was allocated to the addition of 2,600 square meters of productive area and includes state of the art machinery for COP 3,200 million ((approximately USD 1 million) supplied by the German manufacturer Homag.

Now, with a new total area of 16,221 square meters, RTA Muebles increased its production capacity by 32 percent, which brings the total production capacity to 67,600 pieces of furniture / month. As a result, the company also increased its personnel by 11 percent to reach a current total of 536 employees.

The strategic objective of the investment in the expansion of the production capacity is aimed at increasing the participation in export markets. In particular the markets of Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico and the United States where RTA Muebles operates commercial offices with the capacity to serve direct sales.

At the end of 2018 RTA Muebles reached sales of COP 85.1 billion, an increase of 31 percent compared to the previous year (2017: COP 65 billion). In the last financial year, RTA Muebles reached exports for USD 9.5 million, equivalent to approximately 35 percent of the company's total annual sales.

RTA Muebles, formerly RTA Design, was founded in 2003. The company produces modular furniture for the home, kitchen, bathroom and office from certified wood panels and under international quality standards. In April 2019, the company completed an ambitious solar energy project started two years ago with a generating capacity of 60,000 kWh that supplies 40 percent of the energy needs of the production plant. With this clean energy solution, RTA Muebles ceases to emit 174 tons of CO2 annually.
