Swedwood to adapt to adverse market conditions

SWEDEN (Notifix).- Swedwood announced that it has initiated negotiations with the proposal to sell or phase out the factory in Tibro, Sweden. The decision is based on

a decrease in market demands within the veneer furniture business, 221 employees will be affected and have been given notice. Furthermore, Swedwood in Älmhult, Sweden is making production adaptations to secure long-term competitiveness. Consequently Swedwood Älmhult AB has given notice to 70 co-workers out of 324. Swedwood Group is the world's largest producer of wooden furniture and part of the Ikea Group. With more than 30 production units and development centers in ten countries and 16,400 workers, Swedwood annually produces more than 100 million pieces of furniture for owner and main customer, Ikea.
