Women represent 70% of online furniture shoppers in Brazil

BRAZIL – The e-commerce of home and decor in Brazil has handled almost R$ 1 billion only in the first semester of 2014, according to e-Bit – institution that evaluates the satisfaction of Brazilian consumers in their online purchases.

Lojas KDConsidering the volume of sales growth, the Lojas KD – a virtual store that operates in this segment in Brazil – produced a profile of online furniture buyers around the country. A survey was conducted with over six thousand consumers between the months of July and September.

The survey indicates that the consumers that are making their purchases at the virtual store are mostly cosmopolitan women: around 70% of customers are female and live predominantly in large urban centers. They come from the biggest capital cities in Brazil, such as São Paulo (state of São Paulo), Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro), Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais), Curitiba (Paraná), Salvador (Bahia), Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul), Brasilia (Distrito Federal) and Recife (Pernambuco). However, Campinas (an important city in the interior of the state of São Paulo) is also on the list.

Among the most popular items of the e-commerce site are chairs, shelves, racks, kitchen and living room furniture. And the average ticket of furniture is R$ 405.
