COLOMBIA – The growth of RTA Muebles is experienced and felt at its plant in Jamundi, Colombia.

824RTAMUEBLES5 Every centimeter is used to perform at full capacity in a fluid layout where local ingenuity, committed employees and state of the art machinery are seamlessly integrated to achieve maximum productivity. There success is not improvised, it is built minute by minute. This is how this young company has managed to achieved a record of sustained growth without comparison and once again be recognized as the largest manufacturer of wooden furniture in Colombia and the Andean Region.

At the end of 2018 RTA Muebles reached sales of COP 86.8 billion (USD 26.7 million), which represents a growth of 33.2 percent compared to a very good previous year. This important growth has come hand in hand with exports, which grew 48.1 percent in 2018, reaching USD 9.5 million. As such exports went from representing 29.4 percent of total sales in 2017, to representing 35.6 percent in 2018. In a period of just three years (2016 – 2018) RTA Furniture went from having four external markets with annual exports of over USD 200 thousand to have currently ten export markets in that category, with significant improvements in shipments to Chile, Ecuador and Central America.

To consolidate and expand its presence in the important markets of Chile and Mexico, RTA Muebles has been maintaining local product storage for some time in order to increase the level of service for its customers and considerably improve its share in those markets.

A strict management of the investments made to expand the installed production capacity has leveraged this impressive growth in sales and exports. In 2016, the company began an industrial reconversion process with state-of-the-art technology from the German Homag Group, in order to make its production more flexible, adapt to smaller production batches and improve the quality of the final product. This has involved investments in machinery, equipment and software in the order of USD 2.0 million between 2016 and 2018.

Going forward RTA Muebles expects to complete in the first half of 2020 the expansion of its manufacturing facilities to accommodate a new production line that will allow it to meet the growing national and international demand in a timely manner with additional investments in production technology that will require approximately USD 1.5 million.
