COLOMBIA – Colombian exports of modular wood furniture totaled USD 12,196,658 in 2016. This represents a growth of 8.5% compared to 2015 when exports reached USD 11,241,479. The main export company in 2016 was Moduart with shipments for USD 4,817,477, surpassing last year’s leader RTA Design.
Moduart, with headquarters in Bogota and production facilities in the port city of Barranquilla, also registered the highest growth in exports in 2016 (+ 20.0%). In second and third place as Colombia’s main modular furniture exporters are RTA Design (Yumbo, Valle del Cauca) with USD 4,334,655 and Inval (Palmira, Valle del Cauca) with USD 2,408,602. Inval also stood out for its increase in exports by growing 19.9% in 2016 compared to 2015.
Chile was again the main destination for Colombian exports of modular wood panel furniture in 2016 with USD 4,190,436 and a significant growth of 45.8% compared to 2015 (USD 2,874,042). The US market was second in importance in 2016 with USD 2,514,883 compared to USD 1,648,970 in 2015, a growth of more than 52%. Exports to Panama, Peru and Ecuador dropped significantly, with reductions ranging from 45% to 53%.
