USA – Two major cabinet manufacturers, Dura Supreme and Norcraft, are set to close plants in North Carolina, resulting in a combined loss of 274 jobs.
Both companies are subsidiaries of MasterBrand, one of the largest kitchen cabinet manufacturers in the U.S.
Dura Supreme will close its Statesville plant, permanently laying off 74 workers, according to a WARN notice issued in late November. The shutdown is scheduled to occur within two weeks of January 20, 2025. Affected employees, who are not unionized and lack bumping rights, will be laid off without job guarantees.
Norcraft’s closure will take place around May 22, 2025, impacting 200 manufacturing employees at its plant. As with Dura Supreme, these workers are also non-union and do not have bumping rights. MasterBrand has promised to assist displaced employees by offering severance pay, benefits support, and transition services to help them find new employment.
These closures reflect ongoing shifts in the U.S. cabinet manufacturing sector, as companies adapt to changing demand and economic pressures. MasterBrand’s move to close these plants highlights the industry’s efforts to restructure and remain competitive in an increasingly challenging market.
MasterBrand, Inc. is the largest residential cabinet manufacturer in North America, offering a wide range of top-quality cabinetry products for kitchens, bathrooms, and other areas of the home. These products are distributed through an extensive network of over 4,400 dealers, major retailers, and builders.
