ITALY – FederlegnoArredo has announced the establishment of the National Consortium of Furniture Systems (Consorzio Nazionale Sistema Arredo) to enhance sustainability in the furniture sector.
Supported by 15 leading companies, the consortium will focus on managing product end-of-life phases and promoting a circular economy.
This initiative, developed by FederlegnoArredo and major furniture manufacturers, aims to address waste management and recycling challenges. Currently, the consortium represents companies with a combined turnover of over 2 billion euros, with more members joining soon.
Under the leadership of Claudio Feltrin, President of FederlegnoArredo, and Mary Porro, President of Assarredo, the consortium will ensure compliance with extended producer responsibility (EPR) regulations while encouraging sustainable practices throughout product lifecycles.
The initiative will provide nationwide collection, recovery, and recycling services for furniture waste, optimizing resources and reducing waste to contribute to a greener future.
Both Feltrin and Porro emphasized that the consortium will accelerate sustainability efforts, particularly in waste management and reuse, aligning with broader Green Deal goals. Officially formed after a June announcement, the consortium is poised to transform potential legal obligations into strategic opportunities for sustainable growth.
