PORTUGAL (PortalMoveleiro) .- Last year even with the economy in crisis, the furniture industry managed to increase exports as in 2009 by 19%, to €850 mills, a value
that the president of the Association of Wood Industries and furniture of Portugal, Vitor Poças forecasts that will be maintained this year. “This industry is inclined to increase exports since 1998. In 2006, we reached the peak, bringing sales to 2,000 foreign mills,” says Vitor Poças. “In the following years,” continued the president of the Association of Wood and Furniture Industries (AIMMP), “exports fell in value and in 2009 were EUR 750 million. 2010 closed with sales of EUR 850 million, and this year I feel that we will maintain this value.”
