U.S.- NeoCon is one of the most important trade fairs in the furniture and habitat sector in the United States. In its 49th edition, more than 50,000 design professionals and 500 exhibitors have gathered in almost 100,000 square meters of exhibition space within the Merchandise Mart, where the ANDREU WORLD permanent showroom is located.

Of the five awards received by Andreu World, four have been “Best of NeoCon Awards” awarded by the NeoCon competition among the best designs presented, and the fifth has been a “HIP Award” given by the magazine Interior Design to honor commercial industry pioneers and achievement in product applications.

The NUEZ seat collection, designed by Patricia Urquiola, obtained a HiP Award in the category Hospitality: Seating. Enveloping, suggestive, warm and at the same time technological, NUEZ evokes the modularity of folded papers. Made of injected thermoplastic, it offers different options for the shell interior: fully upholstered, with upholstered seat or with padded seat and backrest. The different bases versions – four wooden legs, aluminum star, five casters or cantilever –, the range of ten distinct colors for the shell and numerous upholstery options for the seat and backrest, make NUEZ a tremendously versatile seat, capable of integrating into any type of corporate environment such as waiting or meetings rooms, work areas, and also at home.

The CAPRI LOUNGE armchair, designed by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga, received a “Gold Award” in the category Seating: Sofas and Lounge for its great comfort and representativeness. Offering a perfect combination of comfort and ergonomics, CAPRI is a unique armchair with a current and practical design for lounge and active relaxation areas.

The RADIAL HIGH table received another “Gold Award” in the category of Tables: Communal and Task. Developed from an elaborate and synthetic geometry, the RADIAL table program is a versatile system of “smart tables” offered as individual table, meeting and high table. Their versatility makes them adaptable to a multitude of environments and workspaces.

As for the “Silver Awards”, the SMART bench won in the category Seating:  Barstools and the LAKE chair in the category Seating: Stacking. The Best of NeoCon Jury has recognized the innovation and care for the details of these new designs, which are characterized by their ergonomic qualities, comfort and ability to adapt to the new needs of work environments, areas of collaboration, and corporate waiting areas that require timeless designs.

The SMART barstool is balanced in its form, ergonomics and possesses strength and lightness that makes it an ideal solution for all types of installations. It is made of solid beech wood and with oak or upholstered seat.

LAKE is a good synthesis of tradition and modernity, formally and also from the point of view of manufacturing. It is a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic chairs developed from the work of cabinetmaking; a piece that combines lightness, constructive quality and durability.

The winners of the 2017 Best of NeoCon contest were announced on Monday, June 12. Now in its 28th year, the Best of NeoCon® Awards honors the best new commercial interior products on display at the Merchandise MART in Chicago during NeoCon in June. The jury of Best of NeoCon is composed of architects and interior designers, as well as facilities management professionals involved in the planning of corporate, educational, health or governmental spaces, who are responsible for selecting furniture and furnishings for their clients or North American organizations.
