COLOMBIA – In the October – December 2020 period (4Q-2020), Colombia exported wooden furniture for USD 11.85 million, which represents a strong improvement of 31.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, when wooden furniture exports reached USD 8.98 million.
RTA Muebles, the main exporter of wooden furniture in the country, led this rebound with exports of USD 4.47 million, an significant 77.1 percent higher than in 4Q-2019 (USD 2.52 million) and a 37.7 percent share of Colombian exports of wooden furniture in the quarter. Industria de Muebles del Valle (Inval) also achieved notable growth in its exports in 4Q-2020 (131.1%), reaching USD 1.94 million compared to USD 842 thousand in 4Q-2019, which represented a share of 16.4 percent of Colombia’s total exports of wooden furniture in the period.
Maderkit also stood out with the highest growth, among the main exporting companies, going from USD 238 thousand in 4Q-2019 to USD 657 thousand in 4Q-2020. And Milestone Muebles, which did not export in 2019 but recorded shipments for USD 740 thousand in 4Q-2020. In the fourth quarter of 2020, the United States was the main destination for Colombian exports of wooden furniture. The segment’s shipments to the US totaled USD 4.15 million, a notable improvement of 116.9 percent compared to 4Q-2019.
In 2020, Colombian exports of wooden furniture reached USD 37.11 million, which represents a slight increase of 0.5% compared to the USD 36.92 million exported in 2019.
In 2020, the formidable performance of RTA Muebles stands out, whose exports amounted to USD 15.58 million, 78.7 percent above the USD 8.71 million reached in 2019. This remarkable growth was consolidated in the greater exports to Chile and to the United States, its main foreign markets.
