COLOMBIA – In the January – February 2021 period (2M-2021), Colombia exported wooden furniture for USD 7.78 million, which represents a very strong improvement of 55.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, when wooden furniture exports reached USD 5.0 million.
RTA Muebles, the main exporter of wooden furniture in the country, led this rebound with exports of USD 3.31 million, a significant 76.3 percent higher than in 2M-2021 (USD 1.87 million) and a 42.5 percent share of Colombian exports of wooden furniture in the two-month period (2M-2020: 37.5 per cent share).
Industria de Muebles del Valle (Inval) achieved an even more notable growth in its exports in 2M-2021 (497.6%), reaching USD 1.77 million compared to USD 297 thousand in 2M-2020, which represented a share of 22.8 percent of Colombia’s total exports of wooden furniture in the period (2M-2020: 5.9 per cent share).
Maderkit also stood out with high growth, among the main exporting companies, going from USD 181 thousand in 2M-2020 to USD 531 thousand in 2M-2020, an increase of 193.1 per cent.
Milestone Muebles, which did not export in 2M-2020 recorded shipments of USD 119 thousand in 2M-2020.
In the first two months of 2021, the United States was the main destination for Colombian exports of wooden furniture. The segment’s shipments to the US totaled USD 2.34 million, an important improvement of 78.8 percent compared to the same period 2020 (2M-2020: 1.31 million).
Chile was the second export market for Colombian wooden furniture in 2M-2021 with USD 1.91 million an improvement of 351.4 percent compared to USD 424 thousand in 2M-2020.
