COLOMBIA – In the period January – July 2021 (7M-2021), Colombia exported wooden furniture for USD 26.34 million, representing a sharp improvement of 57.6 percent compared to the same period last year, when wooden furniture exports reached USD 16.71 million.
RTA Muebles, the country’s leading exporter and manufacturer of wood furniture, again led this important rebound with exports of USD 10.07 million, a remarkable 45.0 percent above the same period last year (7M-2020: USD 6.95 million) and a 38.3 percent share of Colombian wood furniture exports in the first seven months of 2021 (7M-2020: 41.6 percent).
Industria de Muebles del Valle (INVAL) achieved an even more remarkable growth in exports in 7M-2021 (+121.6 percent), reaching USD 3.95 million versus USD 1.78 million in 7M-2020, representing a 15.0 percent share of total Colombian wood furniture exports in the period (7M-2020: 10.7 percent share) and a 4.3 p.p. improvement.
Maderkit, also stood out with a high growth, among the main exporting companies, going from USD 546.2 thousand in 7M-2021 to USD 1.37 million in 7M-2021, a strong improvement of 152.1 percent.
Milestone Muebles was the fastest growing exporter, rising from USD 284 thousand in 7M-2020 to USD 1.32 million in 7M-2021.
In the first seven months of 2021, the United States was the main destination for Colombian wood furniture exports. The segment’s shipments to the U.S. totaled USD 8.42 million, a significant 28.5 percent improvement compared to the same period 2020 (7M-2020: USD 6.55 million).
Chile was the second largest export market for Colombian wood furniture in 7M-2021 with USD 4.69 million, a notable increase of 61.9 percent compared to USD 2.89 million in the same period of 2020.
