COLOMBIA – In the January-July 2017 period (7M-2017), Colombian exports of modular board furniture totaled USD 7.41 million, up 21.7% compared to USD 6.01 million in the same period of 2016.
The United States overtook Chile as the main destination for Colombian modular furniture exports, recording USD 1.96 million in the period. This destination was also one of the fastest growing, up 61.4% when compared to the same period in 2016 (7M-2016: USD 1.22 million). Chile was the second most important foreign market in the period, with dispatches for USD 1.83 million against USD 1.87 million in 7M-2016, a slight 2.3% drop.
Also notable was the growth of exports to Mexico, the third largest foreign market in importance. In 7M-2017, Mexico received modular Colombian wood furniture for USD 1.7 million, an increase of 71.5% compared to USD 0.98 million in the same period of the previous year.
The main exporting company in the first seven months of 2017 was RTA Muebles (formerly RTA Design) with USD 3.23 million, a remarkable 34% increase over the same period of 2016. Inval followed with exports for USD 2.06 million and the highest growth rate, up 66.9% against 7M-2016. In contrast exports from Moduart fell to USD 1.99 million (-9.3%) against the same period previous year.
