COLOMBIA – In August, Colombian wooden furniture exports maintained their upward trend registered throughout the year, reaching USD 3.6 million against the USD 2.4 million registered in August 2017, a sharp increase of 51.1%.
It should be noted that exports of wooden furniture in the period greatly exceeded the average growth of 13.1% recorded by Colombian external sales in all its items in August 2018.
Again the manufacturer RTA Muebles led the export segment of wooden furniture with a growth of 128.1% reaching USD 1.2 million in the month. Muebles Jamar was the second largest Colombian exporter with USD 722 thousand, which represented a growth of 53.9% compared to August 2017. And with a notorious growth of 104.3%, Ind. de Muebles del Valle (INVAL) was the third Colombian exporter in the month reaching USD 692 thousand.
Panama was the main external market for Colombian exports of wooden furniture with USD 1 million, followed by the US with USD 687 thousand, Mexico with USD 683 thousand and Chile with USD 445 thousand.
In the period Mexico was the market with the highest growth (256.9%). Chile and Ecuador also showed significant growth with respect to the same month of the previous year.
