Colombian exports of modular panel furniture up 4.5%

COLOMBIA – Colombian exports of modular wooden panel furniture in the January – April 2017 period totaled USD 4.085.329, a 4.5% growth in exported value compared to USD 3.910.809 in the same period of 2016.

The main exporting furniture manufacturer in the period was RTA Design with USD 1.432.696 and down 5.7% against the same period of the previous year, followed by Moduart with USD 1.332.758, also presenting a contraction in external shipments but more pronounced (-18.6%). Inval presented the largest increase in exported value, going from USD 522.861 in the first four months of 2016 to USD 1.235.215 in the same period of 2017 (+136.2%).

In the first four months of 2017 the United States displaced Chile as the main destination for Colombian exports of modular panel furniture with USD 1.241.621 and a strong growth of 136% compared to the same period of 2016 (USD 526.037).

The shipments to Chile, which was the second most important foreign market in the period, were USD 1.163.160 compared to USD 1.465.963 in 2016, representing a 20.7% decrease in exported value.

Exports to Mexico grew 4.2%, reaching USD 599.121 in the 2017 January-April period. Higher than exports to Peru, which registered a significant 65% drop from USD 689.223 in 4M-2016 to USD 237.681 in the same period of 2017.
