BRAZIL – Unicasa Indústria de Móveis, one of Brazil’s leading custom-made furniture manufacturers and the only publicly held company in the segment, faced a challenging 2017 by undergoing a restructuring process that included closing 132 loss-making or low productivity stores, a 32% scale down of the company’s distribution network.
Under the Dell Anno, Favorita, New, and Casa Brasileira brands and the Unicasa Corporate and export channels, the company reached Gross Revenue of BRL 207,799,000 for FY 2017, a 15.3% drop against the BRL 245,359,000 reached in FY 2016.
The number of units sold in the period ended Dicember 31, 2017 reached 787,300 that represents a 21.3% reduction against the number of units sold in 2016 (1,001,000).
During FY 2017 Unicasa made important investments in its 50,000 m² manufacturing plant in Bento Gonçalves with the objective to launch more new products in the market during 2018.
“Throughout the year, we made several changes to products to enable greater differentiation of our deliveries, most of which will be launched in the market during 2018. In this regard, 2018 brings together the highest number of changes in our portfolio in a single year, a 35% increase compared to the launches in 2017, which already witnessed a high volume of launches,” explained Unicasa in its management annual report.
