SPAIN - Formica Group presents its new collection Formica Younique® x Okuda San Miguel, a limited edition of laminates with exclusive designs by the artist, which presents a refreshing combination of art, design and architecture.
The collection offers 4 designs with geometric structures and multi-colored patterns characteristic of Okuda San Miguel. The designs are available in 3 scales S, M, L and are adaptable to any project, interior or exterior, from large spaces to small pieces.
In addition to Color Dots, Rainbow White, Multi-texture and Okuda Skin, Formica Group also offers architects and designers the option of custom projects from the artist’s personalized designs, digitally printed at the highest resolution in panels and laminates allowing for top performance and maximum durability.
This new collaboration joins two solidarity projects in the San Carlos and Gregorio Marañón hospitals in Madrid, where Formica Group and Okuda San Miguel have installed spectacular murals over the past two years that have transformed the monochromatic rooms of the hospitals into authentic art galleries full of color, providing greater comfort to patients, family members, and medical personnel.
Okuda San Miguel is currently one of the most prominent contemporary muralists on an international level. With more than 20 years of experience, his work in the public space can be found in up to 80 cities in more than 30 different countries. In parallel to his work in the public space, in 2009 Okuda began the development of studio work that, today, is exhibited in galleries around the world. In his work, multicolored geometric architectures are mixed with organic forms, bodies without identity, animals without heads and symbols that encourage reflection through artistic pieces that could be classified as pop surrealism.
Younique by Formica Group is a high-pressure laminate with an image, photograph or drawing on its decorative surface. This image is incorporated “internally”, that is, it is not an image on the surface but is encapsulated “inside” the laminate. This allows the resulting final product to incorporate all the characteristics of strength, durability and known guarantees of the Formica laminate. The Younique laminate can be thin laminate Formica HPL with a single decorative face or Formica Compact, with one or two decorative sides, in different thicknesses and textures.
