PERU – On November 15 took place at the Art Museum in Lima, Peru the award ceremony of Masisa’s 2016 International Design Award for Students. 

On this occasion Mexican student Rodrigo Ambrosio with his project "Ritch" surpassed his Latin American peers, winning the grand prize. The winner will have the opportunity of an internship at a renowned German design company, as well as visiting the IMM 2017 fair in Cologne, Germany.

The winning project by Rodrigo Ambrosio, student of Industrial Design at the University Center of Higher Studies of Monterrey (CEDIM), Mexico is a night table that, through an analogue system, blocks the signal of mobile devices when necessary. The second place was obtained by the Argentinean student Pedro Vilchez, from the University of Belgrano, with his desk project of "DSK", while the third place went to a group of students of the Pontificia Universidad Católica of Chile made up of Stefania Arias, Javiera Grez, María Jesús Sotoluque and Carolina Pacheco, for their "Carpenter" project.

The international jury was composed of Elisa Toazza, designer of the Federal Technological University of Paraná, Brazil and Schattdecor Design and Marketing Manager for Latin America; Ricardo Geldres, Peruvian industrial designer member of the Rika brand and professor of the Pontificia Universidad Católica; Teresa Edwards, architect and interior designer and organizer of Lima Design Week; Álvaro Chang-Say, Peruvian architect member of the Armando Paredes Studio; And Felipe Darrigrandi, Marketing Manager of Masisa Andina.

For more than 20 years, Masisa has supported the professional development of students from different universities, through the Design Competition. This year, the challenge was to design furniture that adapts to current technologies, as the transition to this digital era is a complex task that involves a constant renovation of spaces.
