GERMANY – The exclusive, deeply embossed wood-based finishing “Cosmos” from Sonae Arauco sets new standards. This was also the opinion of the jury of the German Design Council, who selected the texture as “Winner” of ICONIC AWARD 2021: Innovative Interior.
The natural texture of the matte, three-dimensional Innovus® melamine surface Cosmos in combination with specially selected decors combines haptic experience and visual appearance. This harmoniously coordinated “look and feel” was already convincing at the previous German Design Award 2021: The particularly impressive combination with the Feel Light Grey decor, inspired by textile felt, emerged as the winner in the “Excellent Product Design and Elements” category at this award. The independent and expert jury of the ICONIC AWARDS finally evaluated the Cosmos finishing as a whole and awarded it the title of “Winner”. The jury is made up of representatives from the fields of design, retail and media.
The Innovus® texture Cosmos is groundbreaking – especially in an increasingly contact-reduced world. In combination with the print design of marble, concrete and sandstone, but also oxidised metals and textile interpretations, the texture lends an authentic materiality. Last but not least, trendy solid colours also become a three-dimensional design element.
The applications are versatile: whether in shop fitting, kitchens or restaurants as well as in public spaces such as schools or libraries – Cosmos can be used wherever a natural interior design with added value is to be realised. The product’s properties as a melamine-coated chipboard or MDF board, such as cleanability, resistance, antibacterial properties and durability, prove to be particularly advantageous. Last but not least, the visual appearance is designed in such a way that the surface can easily be colour-matched with other decors or materials.
The ICONIC AWARDS: Innovative Interior honour relevant contemporary developments and special design achievements. They are awarded by the German Design Council, which was founded in 1953 on the initiative of the German Bundestag to strengthen the design competence of the German economy. Today, the ICONIC AWARDS enjoy a high international reputation.
