ECUADOR - Two months before the end of the year, Ecuadorian exports of PB/MDP reached USD 100.9 million, which represented a strong increase of 24.9% compared to USD 88.8 million reached in the first ten months of 2017 (10M -2017).

This record figure already exceeds the total of PB/MDP exports of the previous year, which accumulated USD 97.6 million at the end of December 2017.

The performance of exports for the month of October contributed significantly to the result so far this year. With exports of PB/MDP for USD 11.01 million in the month, the performance was 33.3% better than that registered in October 2017 when exports reached USD 8.26 million.

In terms of destination markets, Colombia remains the main market with purchases of USD 60.4 million in the accumulated 10M-2018, a significant increase of 26.2% compared to the same period of 2017 (10M-2017: USD 47.8 million).

Exports to Peru also grew significantly (26.3%), going from USD 28.09 million in 10M-2017 to USD 35.49 million in 10M-2018.

This growth in the Ecuadorian exports of PB / MDP has just one explanation: Novopan del Ecuador. With exports of USD 99.2 million in 10M-2018, Novopan recorded a growth of 26.9% compared to USD 78.15 million reached in 10M-2017, far surpassing its local rival, Aglomerados Cotopaxi. The latter barely reached exports of USD 1.7 million in the 10M-2018 period, which is equivalent to a 28% drop compared to the same period of the previous year.
