For 2017, a 21% increase in the commercialization of this product is scheduled in relation to 2016.

Wood chip is a forest biomass that generates clean energy and, consequently, less greenhouse gases compared to other energy sources, such as natural gas and BPF (petroleum-derived) oil. Customers who purchase Duratex wood chip are power generation and food industry mills that use it to obtain steam and hot gas. "Our chip is generated from whole eucalyptus trees, we do not use residues which guarantees greater homogeneity of the raw material and calorific value in the boilers", says José Ricardo Paraíso Ferraz, Forestry Director of Duratex. "In addition, we constantly invest in equipment and processes of forest management," he adds.

Duratex's forest management process has been certified by the FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) for more than 20 years and all its plants have the FSC chain of custody certificate, which guarantees that the products are manufactured with wood coming from responsible sources, managed in an environmentally appropriate and socially beneficial manner and from other controlled sources. Duratex was the first company in South America and tenth in the world to achieve certification.
