India imposes antidumping duties on Vietnam and Indonesia MDF

INDIA - India’s finance ministry has imposed anti-dumping duties of up to USD 64.35 per cubic meter of plain MDF from Vietnam and Indonesia. The anti-dumping duty will be levied on plain MDF (also known as Custom-wood or Craft-wood in the domestic market) with a thickness of 6mm above and will be valid for a period of five years. The duties do not apply to laminated MDF boards.

The anti-dumping petition was jointly filed domestic MDF manufacturers Greenply Industries and Mangalam Timber Products. Rushil Decor Ltd, which accounts for 20% of India’s domestic MDF production, also supported the petition.

Greenply Industries ordered its 2nd Dieffenbacher MDF line in December 2015. The new line, with a capacity of 429,000m3 is being set up in the state of Andhra Pradesh and will manufacture HDF/MDF.
